WHAT TO EXPECT

Broadway Dance: Drop in class

$15 online (MUST REGISTER IN ADVANCE)

Ages 15 to adult

We will focus on the fundamentals of ballet, jazz and tap techniques along with building strength and flexibility. After a warmup and across the floor exercise students will learn a combination from the musical theatre repertoire. This class is open to all levels and will be a great place to dust off those dance shoes!

Class description:

This class is centered on the principles of acting, with influences from Stanislavski and Sandy Meisner. Our focus is mastering techniques that will hone voice tone and physicality. We will delve into the importance of connecting with scene partners through communicating a full character and learning to craft performances that evoke genuine reactions. Together, we will explore how these techniques can elevate your acting skills and create a full believable character.

Bio:

Michael graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois with his BFA in Acting and most recently graduated from the City College of New York with his Masters in Theatrical Education. He currently teaches Theater at Carmel Middle School. Directorial credits include: Rent with QC Concerts, Need A Little Christmas with Laura Little Theatrical Productions and Wizard of Oz at Greenwood Lake Theatre. Michael has also worked at numerous regional theaters where he has been featured in some of his favorite roles such as: Prince Charles in Diana: The Musical, Drew in Rock of Ages, Tony in West Side Story and Marius in Les Miserables, Laurie in Little Women, Jamie in The Last Five Years, and Abraham in Altar Boyz. Michael was featured in the New York Musical Theater Festival, contributing to new works such as Spot On The Wall  and Illa: A Hip Hop Musical.
